Nobody Saw It Coming
Honestly, that post left me depressed and sad. The Christian life of meaning, contentment, and hope amid suffering sounds pretty lofty when compared to the notion of doing what you want with no regard for others or the future. If I were a betting man, knowing basic human nature and tracking what’s going on right now, I’d be tempted to put my money on modern culture winning out.
But I don’t want that outcome. I don’t want Satan to win. I don’t want my grandkids to live in a faithless world of people “living their truth” without regard to God’s will and the pervasive consequences of personal selfishness. I cannot see how it turns around. We need a “then God . . .” moment!
Remember David? Facing Goliath? Overwhelming worldly power looking down on him and all he has is a sling, a few small rocks, and faith in his Heavenly Father. David mustered the courage to step out in faith, and God came through. One man, one moment, and one rock perfectly placed turned everything around. Nobody saw it coming.

Because God is silent does not mean He is still. He is alive and at work. He is the same God who delivered Jesus from death to life, and if he can do that, He can do anything . . . even redeem our culture.
Let’s give Him something to work with. Let’s be people who live their faith consistently, both privately and publicly! Let’s make our lives bright lights in this dark culture.
What if God wants to use you as the David of our time?
Don’t laugh (like Goliath did.).
You never know what God will do nor who He’ll use!
Scripture: David said to the Philistine, “You come against me with sword and spear and javelin, but I come against you in the name of the Lord Almighty, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied. This day the Lord will deliver you into my hands, and I’ll strike you down and cut off your head. This very day I will give the carcasses of the Philistine army to the birds and the wild animals, and the whole world will know that there is a God in Israel. All those gathered here will know that it is not by sword or spear that the Lord saves; for the battle is the Lord’s, and he will give all of you into our hands.” (1 Samuel 45-47)
